Government Affairs Committee

Chairperson: Eric Wilbert, Wilbert’s U-Pull-It

The Government Affairs Committee leads ARANY’s advocacy efforts, working to promote policies that support and protect New York’s automotive recycling industry. Members monitor legislation, connect with policymakers, and educate others on key issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and track legislation affecting the industry
  • Advocate with policymakers and regulatory bodies
  • Draft position statements and updates
  • Support grassroots advocacy and member outreach
  • Attend hearings, meetings, and key events

Qualifications:

  • Interest in legislative and regulatory issues
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills
  • Collaborative mindset; policy knowledge is a plus

Time Commitment:
1–2 hours per month, including monthly meetings and additional advocacy efforts

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee focuses on growing and strengthening the ARANY community. From recruitment to retention, this team works to increase the value of membership and ensure every member feels connected and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit new members and build relationships
  • Create strategies to improve engagement and satisfaction
  • Assist with membership promotions and communications
  • Collect feedback to enhance member benefits

Qualifications:

  • Passion for recycling and industry sustainability
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, and team-oriented
  • Experience in sales, CRM, or nonprofits is helpful but not required

Time Commitment:
1–2 hours per month or less, including monthly meetings

Events Committee

The Events Committee creates memorable and meaningful experiences for ARANY members. From our annual convention to regional trainings, this team ensures our events are informative, engaging, and valuable to all who attend.

Committee Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute events, including logistics and scheduling
  • Secure speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors
  • Promote events to boost attendance
  • Develop programming that reflects current trends and needs
  • Contribute feedback and evaluations to improve future events
  • Actively participate in meetings and planning sessions

Time Commitment:
Varies by event cycle, typically 1–2 hours per month
